KMT Race Weekend – First round of the KMTC 2K Series 2023/2024

KMT, Kuwait – Kuwait Motor Town successfully hosted the first round of the [KMT Race Weekend] on Saturday, the 25^th of November 2023, to kickstart the season’s series opener for the (KMTC 2K Series) of the 2023/2024 season.

The thrilling season opener witnessed a hard-fought battle between the seven participating contestants from Kuwait and Qatar, with Ahmed Al Ghanem (Honda S2000), Ahmad Al Ayoub (Toyota 86), Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq (Toyota 86), Nasser Al Saeed (Honda Civic), and Mohammad Al Amiri (Acura RSX) representing Kuwait – Abdulla Al Khelaifi (Honda S2000) and Mansour Al Hajri (Toyota 86) representing Qatar.

The first qualifying round saw Abdullah Al Khelaifi on top in the Honda S2000 with the fastest time of 1:15.851 for pole position on the grid. Followed closely by Ahmad Al Ghanem, also in the Honda S2000 with a time of 1:16.207. Qatar’s Mansour Al Hajri qualified third in the Toyota 86 with a time of 1:18.317, closely followed by both Ahmad Al Ayoub and Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq with a time of 1:18.928 and 1:19.663, respectively. Debutants Nasser Al Saeed (Honda Civic) and Mohammad Al Amiri (Acura RSX) with a time of 1:25.030 and 1:25.570 for 6^th and 7^th position on the grid.

Qatar’s Abdullah Al Khelaifi finished the race from pole position, placing first in both race 1 and race 2 within 10 laps, leading the races from start to finish, earning a perfect total of 50 points.

Kuwait’s Ahmed Al Ghanem finished the race with a performance nothing short of impressive in a Honda S2000, placing second in both races 1 and 2, trailing the leader from start to finish, earning a second position in the series standings at 36 points over the 2 races of round 1.

Debutants Mansour Al Hajri of Qatar in the Toyota 86 and Kuwait’s Nasser Al Saeed in the Honda Civic showcased impressive skills on the South Circuit, with Al Hajri placing 3^rd in Race 1, and Al Saeed 3^rd in Race 2, placing both drivers on the podium with a tied total of 23 points in the series standing for 3^rd place.
