KMT Race Weekend – R3 + R4 of the KMTC 2K Series 2023/2024

KMT, Kuwait – Kuwait Motor Town successfully hosted the 3rd and 4th rounds of the KMTC 2K Series Championship on the 3rd (R3) and 10th (R4) of February 2024.

 

Round 3

A thrilling third round saw five contestants racing on Kuwait Motor Town’s south circuit layout with Ahmed Al Ghanem (Honda S2000), Ahmad Al Ayoub (Toyota 86), Nasser Al Saeed (Honda Civic), Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq (Toyota 86), and Mohammad Al Amiri (Toyota 86).

Ahmed Al Ghanem led the qualifying round in the Honda S2000, achieving the fastest time of 1:15.148 for pole position, followed by Ahmad Al Ayoub in the Toyota 86 with a time of 1:17.332. Nasser Al Saeed in the Honda Civic with a time of 1:18.001, with Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq coming in 4th position behind Al Saeed with a fractional difference of 0.016 seconds for the fastest lap of 1:18.017. Mohammad Al Amiri in the Toyota 86 qualified in fifth position on the grid with a time of 1:19.965.

Race 1

Al Ghanem started race 1 from pole position, leading the race from start to finish with a total time of 14:45.780, with the fastest lap of 1:14.694. Coming in at second place, Nasser Al Saeed in the Honda Civic improved his position from 3rd on the starting grid to place 2nd with a total time of 14:49.835 and a fastest lap of 1:17.635. 3rd place saw Ahmad Al Ayoub in the Toyota 86 with a total time of 14:50.447 and a fastest lap of 1:18.00 seconds flat, closely followed by Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq in the Toyota 86 with a total time of 14:50.791 and a fastest lap of 1:17.773 finishing in 4th position. Mohammad Al Amiri did not classify (DNC) after experiencing a mechanical issue in the Toyota 86 after the qualifying round

Race 2

Al Ghanem started race two from pole position once again, leading the race in a spectacular fashion with a significant time improvement, marking a total time of 12:54.063 and a fastest lap of 1:14.759. Coming in second place in the Toyota 86, race driver Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq pushed the pace, improving his total time to 13:14.415 with a fastest lap of 1:17.837, placing second on the podium. Once again, with an outstanding performance in the Honda Civic, Nasser Al Saeed recorded a total time of 13:22.726 and a fastest lap of 1:19.191 for a third-place podium.

Round 4

A thrilling 4th round saw five contestants racing on Kuwait Motor Town’s GP Circuit for the first time, with Ahmed Al Ghanem qualifying first once again in the Honda S2000 with a fastest lap of 2:29.021 for pole position on the starting grid. Followed by Ahmad Al Ayoub in the Toyota 86 with a fastest lap of 2:32.071 and Nasser Al Saeed in the Honda Civic with a fastest lap of 2:38.333. Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq came in 4th position after qualifying with a fastest lap of 2:41.879. Debutant Talal Al Ansari did not start (DNS) after experiencing a mechanical issue during the free practice session.

 

 

Race 1

Once again, Al Ghanem led the race on the GP circuit layout in the Honda S2000 with a total time of 15:10.788 and a fastest lap of 2:29.397. Followed by Nasser Al Saeed in the Honda Civic with a total time of 15:53.388 and a fastest lap of 2:38.002, battling 3rd place Ahmad Al Ayoub in the Toyota 86, marking a total time of 15:54.256 and a fastest lap of 2:37.611. Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq placed in fourth position with a total time of 16:08.008 and a fastest lap of 2:37.254. Al Ansari in the Mazda MX-5 did not start (DNS) after experiencing a mechanical issue with the vehicle.

Race 2

A different scenario in race 2 of the 4th round after Al Ghanem experienced a mechanical issue during the formation lap, leading to a DNC. Nasser Al Saeed led the race in the Honda Civic, finishing with a total time of 14:10.506 and a fastest lap of 1:17.735. There was a fierce battle between the leader and Mohammad Al Abdalrazzaq in the Toyota 86, staying neck to neck with Al Saeed from start to finish, recording a total time of 14:10.936 and a fastest lap of 1:18.902, placing second on the podium. Closely trailing in third place was Ahmad Al Ayoub in the Toyota 86, which marked a total time of 14:11.196 and a fastest lap of 1:18.730. Al Ansari in the Mazda MX-5 did not start (DNS) due to a mechanical issue.
