The second round of the KMTC 2K series

KMT, Kuwait – Kuwait Motor Town successfully hosted its second round of the (KMTC 2K) series on Saturday, the 4th of March, to follow up on the previous week’s series opener on Kuwait’s National Race Week of the 2022/2023 season.

The second round of the season witnessed a tight battle contested between four participating drivers from Kuwait and Qatar, with Abdullah Ben Nakhi (Honda Civic) representing Kuwait, Abdulla Al Khelaifi (Honda S2000), Ibrahim Al Abdulghani (Honda S2000), and Abdulla Al Abbasi (Honda Civic) representing Qatar.

Once again, championship leader Abdulla Al Khelaifi of Qatar showcased his skills with an impressive performance in a Honda S2000, placing first in both races 1 and 2, leading the race for 10 laps with a total time of 12:49.166 (Race 1) and 13:42.457 (Race 2), and the fastest lap of 1:15.808 (Race 1) and 1:14.300 (Race2), leading the championship standings with a perfect total of 100 points over the four races for the two rounds.

Kuwait’s Abdullah Ben Nakhi finished the race with an impressive performance in the Honda Civic, placing second in both races 1 and 2, trailing the leader from start to finish with a total time of 13:27.989 (Race 1) and 14:14.705 (Race2), with a fastest lap of 1:20.107 (Race 1) and 1:19.645 (Race 2), earning a second position in the series standings at 56 points over the 4 races of round 1 and 2.

Qatari race driver Abdullah Al Abbasi made it to the podium in third place for races 1 and 2, with Al Abbasi finishing the race in his Honda Civic with a total time of 13:03.711 (Race 1), with a fastest lap of 1:16.152 (Race 1). 

Despite Al Abbasi’s mechanical failure during race 2, the Qatari driver placed third on the podium earning a total of 35 points over the 4 races of rounds 1 and 2.
